This is a new building addition to The Carriage House wedding venue located in Conroe, TX. The new building compliments the venue’s existing German gable barn styled building with a small town chapel feel. The new building can accommodate weddings in excess of 350 people.

The most difficult hurdle of this project was working with the soil conditions of the site. This building is immediately adjacent to a creek, which provides gorgeous views from the raised deck around the building. However, the creek has also brought with it very sandy soil conditions. The initial concept for the foundation was to use a pier and beam foundation system to hold up the building’s frame. Drilling piers into sand is very costly and difficult due to the collapse of the sand. This forced us to change the foundation type to a raised slab on grade foundation.
